Take the Bus to Walk up Snowdon

Hendre Wen is only a minutes walk away from the nearest bus stop where you can hop aboard the Snowdon Sherpa bus service. The S2 bus service can take you to Pen y pass, the starting point for two of the best walking routes up Snowdon. This a good alternative to using the car park at Pen y Pass which can be full by 9am or even earlier and has a cost of £10 for the day. The bus fare costs £4 return. More information is available in the cottage Welcome pack. Bus timetables are available on the Snowdon Sherpa page of the Gwynedd Council website.

Guided Walks

During the summer months (June to end of August), guided walks are available, upon request, at a charge of £10 per hour per group staying at Hendre Wen. These walks will be available on the first Sunday of your visit and are led by the cottage owner around Betws y Coed, the Gwydyr Forest and surrounding area.

Guests would need to bring packed lunch and a drink and come prepared with suitable clothing (e.g. waterproofs and walking boots). Walks can be tailored to specific requirements e.g. distance, length, strenuous/moderate/easy. If the weather forecast is poor, then guests may cancel free of charge. If you are interested in this, please email me at the time of your booking.

Central Position for Exploring Snowdonia

Hendre Wen is a lovely warm, clean, comfortable, spacious and welcoming holiday home which is the best equipped accommodation we have stayed in. This is a great central position for exploring Snowdonia and its dramatic landscape. We would recommend a visit to Bodnant gardens, Newborough beach and the walk from Dolgellau to Barmouth along the old railway track. We will definitely return.

Peaceful Location

Hendre Wen is in a lovely, peaceful location yet a mere ten minutes walk away from the village itself, and all the amenities it has to offer. There's a good selection of restaurants and cafes, and a well stocked Spar. There are plenty of local walks right from the front door, and it's been lovely to come back to this warm, comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean house at the end of a good day out.

Great Central Location

A beautiful, well equipped cottage. Our home for 4 days which wasn’t long enough. Spotlessly clean and lots of little thoughtful touches from the owner such as suggestions for walks and places to go. A great central location for exploring the village and beautiful Welsh countryside.
